Welcome to Claudia de Farhat's Site

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, close to the famous beach of Ipanema. Rio has given me more sensitivity because it's a very beautiful place, with a different type of environment: light, sun, beach, good people, poor people, and I excell in this atmosphere for inspiration. I nevertheless have memory of different places , having travelled in many contries for many years, where I saw Art, and now I live Art.

I used to sell jewelry, antiques, and furniture, for many years, until my passion for colors began. This is how my passion for painting got started.

I studied Antropology, which is the reason why I use human figures and social themes in my work. I utilize mainly antique woods, working with cedar, pine , Riga Pine ( wood from North Europe), peroba , and other rare woods which were brought during the colonization of Brazil: I like to work with windows, doors , always using wood, -sometimes, to bring my different vision about Art, I add a piece of canvas to them.

I have works in store: Oficina Brasilis, Rua Visconde de Pirajá 580 lojas 105, 106, 107, Ipanema.

I use many materials: oil, acrilic, guns, pieces ..of many things. My studio is in Arpoador, the other famous point in Rio, at Bulhões de Carvalho Street, 77 apt,.204, Arpoador, Rio de Janeiro, zip code.22081000. My phone number,. (21) 2513.1244 , or (21) 8715.0261.

"Those giant masters of the line, Van Gogh, Chaim Soutine, George Rouault, Kirchner, Egon Schiele, Frida Kahlo,Van Dongen, in strips full of cheer and ardor bring their lives to a culmination in noble walls, and many without feeling the value that their couloured passion possesses. I want to speak to the world and proudlhy live of the art I exercise despite conventional forms or groupings" - by Claudia de Farhat
